Bergama is a town in İzmir district, located between 37.07 latitude, 27.12 longitude on northwest of Aegean Region of Turkey. Neighboring towns are Soma and Kınık from east, Burhaniye and İvrindi from north, Ayvalık and Dikili from west, Aliağa from south. Aegean sea coast lies on Bergamas southwest direction. Towns distance to İzmir is 107 km. and Bergama is located on seashore.
Town is located on the land of Bakırçay basin which is surrounded by mountain chains; Madra mountain from north ( peak point-Geyikli: 1051 mt. ) and Yunt mountain from south ( peak point-Maya hill: 1344 mt. ) Bakırçay plain is 45 km long and 15 to 20 km wide from place to place. Town centres' altitude is 68 mt, Acropols' altitude is 331 mt.
Bakırçay creeks' origin is Davullu mountains from 30 km south of Balıkesir. This creek divides Bakırçay plain; which is named after the creek, into two parts. Bakırçay creek is supplied with Glenbe, Aksu, Yağcılı, Menteşe, İlya, Karadere, Kırkgeçit, Gümüş, Kestel, Bergama, Sarıırmak, Sınır creeks coming from Madra and Yunt mountains. It is 120 km long and has an irregular river regime.
